Dave, - a memorial service in New Zealand.

  A memorial service is planned for this side of the Tasman.  Sara and I are planning to host a service when the weather is warmer, and when we've made sure we can get the news around.  So a few months away yet.
  We'll keep you posted about the dates and so on.

      The guys at Poetry Live have organized that we have a Dave night, 
and  we'll show some short films and the re-synched Dave footage too if you like.

Hi all,

     Dave's funeral was held at the Rookwood Crematorium, and Necropolis in Sydney last Thursday.  It was a small gathering of his friends and family and quite a few of us spoke about him and shared anecdotes. It was frequently mentioned about the role of mentor and encourager of other poets and artists that he had often played, during the service and the evening.  Martin and Nigel, and Elsepeth and Sara, and I hosted a small wake at Nigel's house and there was plenty of talk and songs. Our thoughts are also with others that knew and loved Dave, and with Dave's long time friend Paul Gray whose wife died after a period of illness on the very same day that Dave did.
     After speaking with Sara, we've agreed that it's the best thing to bring the ashes to New Zealand, and have a ceremony and wake here in a couple of months when the weather is a bit warmer.
Thankyou for all the kind comments there have been from people who knew and loved our dad.
